Lalique Frosted Eagle Head
Lalique Frosted Eagle Head
Lalique "Tête d'Aigle" — Frosted Crystal Eagle Head
Originally conceived by René Lalique in 1928 as a car hood ornament — one of the most dramatic expressions of Art Deco glass ever mounted to a radiator cap. This frosted and clear crystal example captures every detail of the original: the hooked beak, the fierce eye, the diamond-textured feather pattern descending into the base.
What sets this piece apart is its provenance. The original Zell Bros. retail sticker remains intact on the base alongside the Made in France label — placing this eagle in the inventory of Portland's most legendary jewelry institution, likely sometime in the 1950s or '60s. Zell Bros., founded in 1912 on Morrison Street, was at its peak considered the largest independent single-store jewelry retailer in the country outside of Tiffany and Cartier. That sticker is Portland history.
Signed "Lalique France" on the underside. No chips, cracks, or repairs.
